I saw Charlie's first real smile today - I think it was her birthday gift to me.
The first month flew by, and Charlie slept through most of it. We stayed in the hospital about 5 days, then came home. We took Charlie to 2 doctor's visits, and she wasn't gaining enough weight. Since breastfeeding wasn't going so well, I decided to start supplementing with formula. Charlie seemed to double in size then, but everyone still commented on how little she was.
We couldn't seem to keep Ella away from Charlie - although she would only refer to her as Charlotte. Every morning, she would come in to our room and insist on seeing (i.e., waking) Charlie. She always wanted to hold, feed, and pick out Charlie's outfits.
Her first real outing was to Radial cafe for brunch with Ann and Bill. Of course, she also got to go to Target and Publix within the first 2 weeks of her life. We also had a lovely family dinner at Leon's for my birthday.
Charlie was a pretty easy baby this first month. She would usually want to eat every 2 or 3 hours during the day, but was kind to me at night, and would go 4 or 5 hours. Thank goodness since Kris returned to work after being home for 3 weeks. Charlie preferred to be held (esp. in the sling), but wouldn't complain too much if we put her in the vibrating bouncy chair or stomach down on the Boppy. She made the cutest faces and cooing sounds, but often had a furrowed brow - something Kris always makes fun of me for.
